Top winners: Siti and Faizal showing their awards at the AIM awards ceremony in Kuala Lumpur Saturday night.

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Faizal Tahir, who caused a controversy when he took off his shirt during a concert early this year, was the big winner at last night’s 15th Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM) awards held at the Putra World Trade Centre.

Faizal beat Datuk Siti Nurhaliza by grabbing four awards, including the Prestigious Album of The Year award for his debut album Aku.Muzik.Kamu.

He also won the Best Vocal Performance in an Album (Male), Best Rock Album and Best New Artiste.

“It is still hard for me to believe I have won. I never expected to win especially since I was competing with Datuk Siti,” he added.

Siti finished a close second, winning three awards: Best Vocal Performance in an Album (Female), Best Pop Album and Best Musical Arrangement in a Song (Bahasa Malaysia).
